MOTOR: Chevrolet, 454, V-8 220 horse-power gasoline engine or 200 horse-power Cummins B-T four cylinder diesel engine. 35 miles per hour capability.
TRANSMISSION: Three speed automatic with torque converter.
FINAL DRIVE: Edwards Final Drive unit. Power is transmitted from the transmission to the rear truck. Power is then transmitted from the main drive axle, (rear axle on rear truck), via a double roller chain to the front axle of rear truck. Power is applied to all four wheels of the rear truck.
TRUCKS:
GAUGE: This car can be made for standard, narrow or meter gauge tracks.
WHEELS: Four to each truck, 24 inch diameter, made of steel, pressed on axles.
AXLES: Four inch in diameter made of chrome nickel steel.
JOURNALS: Equipped with standard railway roller bearings.
SPRINGS: One coil spring over each journal box and two half elliptic springs on each truck to support the car body.
BRAKES: Brakes are of the "straight" air type with emergency application feature. "Automatic" type are applied when motor is employed to pull trailer car.
TRUCK FRAME: Made of fabricated steel, outside side frames in one solid piece.
BODY OF CAR:
DIMENSIONS: Length over body is 33 ft. Height from rail to top of roof is
10 ft. 7 in. Width of body is 8 ft. Height top of rail to floor is 3 ft. 5 in. Height of floor to ceiling is 7 ft. 2 in. Bolster centers are 19 ft. Weight of car 22,000 pounds.
CONSTRUCTION: Substantially built of steel with hardwood interior, doors, window sash and T&G floor. Roof is covered with tongue and groove boards, dressed and covered with heavy canvas and painted.
BAGGAGE COMPARTMENT: 8 ft. in length. Has two 38 in. sliding doors, one on each side. Interior ceiling is ¼ inch agasote, walls are tongue & groove and painted a light buff. Partition between baggage and passenger compartment.
PASSENGER COMPARTMENT: 20 ft. 2 in. in length. Seats are spring cushions and backs upholstered in a heavy grade Naugahyde. Seats are provided for 30 passengers. Passenger compartment is provided with one water closet.
REAR PLATFORM: Open type with steps on each side, iron railing on rear.
OTHER EQUIPMENT: Car is heated by a propane forced air system. 30 gallon fuel tank; air whistle; signal bell; air sanders; 12 volt electric lights; complete set of controls; steel pilot; tool box; fire extinguisher.
This car will make 10 to 15 miles per gallon of gasoline.
Model 10
Model 10-C This rail car is identical in out-fittings and mechanical arrangements as our standard Model-10 rail car with the exception that the coach employs a "center" door for entrance and egress. The rear of the coach is also easily adapted for a "rear" control stand for dual end operation.
